Cofc Legal Affairs
The pre-legal counselling program has several different elements. First, there is an INDIVIDUAL COUNCIL from the Program Director, currently Dr. Claire Wofford in the Department of Political Science. In addition to her PhD, Dr. Wofford holds a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law, teaches several law-related courses, and is well equipped to give you advice and guidance if you are considering law school. We now have an assistant principal, Briana McGinnis, who has studied legal theory and taught courses on law. The Office of Legal Affairs provides legal advice to the college`s senior administration, board of trustees, faculty, staff, and other staff acting on behalf of the college. Led by General Counsel Angela B. Mulholland, our knowledgeable and accessible staff strives to respond in a timely manner and provide relevant advice. Our goal is to facilitate the College`s mission to provide quality education in the arts and sciences, education and business by providing the best possible legal advice. DISCLAIMER: These documents are presented here for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice on any particular matter or the establishment of an individual lawyer-client relationship.
Legal advice must be based on facts and circumstances related to a particular legal issue. For legal advice on matters relating to the College as part of your official responsibilities, please contact a member of the Office of Legal Affairs. As you can see, the Pre-Legal Advice Program has a wealth of resources to help you. Look at all the links on the left or contact Dr. Wofford in woffordcb@cofc.edu or Dr. McGinnis in mcginnisbl@cofc.edu. We look forward to getting to know you and helping you on the path you have chosen! We also offer an LSAT PREPARATION COURSE to students, alumni and community members. This course, which is offered in late spring and early fall and costs about 1/2 of the most important courses for end-use products, is designed to best prepare you for LSAT. The program also provides the books for the class for free. Please contact Elizabeth Meny at menye@cofc.edu for more information. If you are appealing, you must submit in writing within two weeks of the rejection the reasons why you believe this decision is wrong. Your return must be submitted to the Treasurer`s office along with any other relevant documents. The current fee is $960 ($460 deposit fee plus $500 fraud detection fee) for new applicants. $460 for renewal. Early application is highly recommended, as regular treatment of H-1B usually takes several months. However, the ministry or school may request a “premium processing” of the application by paying an additional fee of $2,500. The premium processing service guarantees a 15-day response from the USCIS. This can mean a notice of approval or a request for additional evidence, so it`s always important to apply early, even if rewards processing is requested. Premium processing is highly recommended for new foreign employees who must take up employment within 120 days of the date of hiring.
