Problems include: R A N D O M S T O R Y about when I almost missed my first job interview because I was given the wrong address. I was so excited about my first legal interview. I was super prepared, had checked the address 86 times and took the train to the city to arrive early. When I arrived on the street, I walked down the street a dozen times completely confused. The number did not exist! I was 21 years old, didn`t know the city and didn`t know what to do – it was before the internet on your phone days! I was standing in front of the district court, super deflated and ready to admit defeat and go home, when an elderly gentleman who worked for the court came to me and asked me if I was okay. I told him the dilemma and he smiled. Luckily, I was in an interview for a well-known legal organization (which the young and naïve Fiona didn`t like at the time) and the gentleman led me to my interview and wished me good luck when I walked in. A few years later, I saw the Lord at court and he smiled and said, “It looks like it was lucky that you didn`t give up that day and didn`t go home.” I smiled back – “Thank you.” That day was my sliding door moment that could have seen me in a completely different direction and probably far from the law.
