In 2013, Kristen began working for Dunn Carney Allen Higgins & Tongue, LLP when some of Cooney & Crew`s lawyers merged with the firm. Kristen was hired by Dunn Carney as a practice assistant/senior paralegal while continuing to manage the books and practice of the lawyer who brought her into the herd. At the time of the merger, an employee decided to start his own solo practice and hired Kristen to provide paralegal, administrative, accounting and office management support. In 2016, another former Cooney & Crew employee opened a solo practice and commissioned Kristen to provide the same legal services. At that time, Kristen became the office manager of a much larger company. In addition to her role as a paralegal and accountant, Kristen was now responsible for managing issues with suppliers, solving IT problems, coordinating services for employees, answering various HR questions, drafting policies and procedures, and many other day-to-day matters. Kristen`s legal career began in 1997 when she was offered the position of legal secretary at a small law firm with 2 lawyers in her hometown of Woodburn, Oregon. Although Kristen was grateful to have had this opportunity, she had no legal experience, she came to work with the general knowledge of working in an office, but soon realized that the legal field was the place where she sometimes had to be too logical.

After five years of experience and with the support of her company, Kristen decided it was time to see what else was there for her. In 2002, Kristen found her home at Cooney & Crew, LLP, a small business in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Less than a year after her appointment, she had the opportunity not only to provide the legal administrative services for which she had been hired, but also to take over the firm`s accounting duties. After the firm`s accountant left the state, Kristen entered this role with limited experience gained working for a local bank. It wasn`t easy to juggle the responsibilities of a legal assistant/paralegal and an accountant, but Kristen thrived on the day-to-day challenges.
