Passporting Requirements for Minor

Please note that the above documents are required and offered for all minor applicants, but the consulate may require additional documents to verify citizenship, identity, parental relationship, or other matters. Failure to bring these documents to the interview may result in a delay in processing your file. Please note the following important information for passports for minors (under 16 years of age): All minors – including newborns and infants – must have their own passport when travelling abroad by air. Applicants who are 16 years of age or older are considered adult applicants. In addition to the requirements listed on the U.S. Passport Application or Renewal page, minor children have other requirements that you should read here. This parent-child relationship document is still required even if a U.S. passport has been issued to a minor. Fee per minor applicant: $100.00 for the passport booklet, $15.00 for the passport card and $115.00 for both. The routine processing time is currently 8 to 11 weeks.

Some acceptance facilities require appointments, others do not. We recommend that you call the point of acceptance in advance to verify hours of operation, acceptable payment methods and appointment requirements. Find your place of acceptance.
